Marilyn Housemeyer passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025 at the age of 91. She was born on June 4, 1934 to Paul G. and Eloise L. (Beebee) Kissel in Milan, IN. Marilyn is survived by her daughter Diana Housemeyer; son Kevin (Anne) Housemeyer; granddaughter Amy (Jacob) Fenolia; great grandson Johnathan James Fenolia and a half-sister Pauletta Brewer.
Marilyn Jean Kissel married Edgar J. Housemeyer on June 28, 1952 in Dillsboro, IN. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before Ed’s passing in 2016. In 2001, they became permanent Florida residents in Fort Myers. In 2022 Marilyn returned to South Bend.
She spent many years with the South Bend Community School Corporation as an educational secretary at Franklin, Coquillard and finally at John Adams High School until her retirement in 1989. She served in several capacities on the National Board for Educational Secretaries. She loved to play bridge, knit and crochet, especially her scrubbies that she loved to give to everyone.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Paul Kissel and sister-in-law Dorothy Kissel.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1021 Manchester Drive, South Bend, IN 46615. Casual attire please. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marilyn’s name to Alzheimer’s & Dementia Services, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637; Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka or Christ Child Society of South Bend, 2366 Miracle Lane, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
