5 Week Class: Beginner Wheel Throwing Pottery
In this class you'll learn the basics of clay and wheel throwing to create various functional pieces. Each Student will be instructed on how to create various cup, mug, bowl and pitcher forms.
Structure:
The course will consist of 5 sessions. Each session is a lesson of 2 hours (including clean up at the end of the session).
Enrolling in this course would include a 6 day pass punch card to used for extra wheel time outside of class.
Week 1 (Tues, 7/8) - Wheel Throwing Basics
Week 2 (Tues, 7/15) – Drinking Vessels
Week 3 (Tues, 7/22) - Bowls
Week 4 (Tues, 7/29) – Pitchers
Week 5 (Tues, 8/5) – Glazing
Pottery projects will not be taken home the same day. Pottery must dry completely over multiple days before it can go in the kiln, and we fire each Friday. Once fired (two weeks after class), you can come back in anytime after that to glaze your pottery with a color of your choice, and it goes back in the kiln one last time. We will hold pottery for a maximum of 6 weeks from the date of your class, at which point, we will need to get rid of it to make room. Because of the volume of students and our small staff, we do not make calls to you to pick up pottery. Make a note on your calendar or phone to pick up your pieces in a timely manner.
