Why was this wine named Black Chicken?

In the town of Napa in the 1940's Aldo Biale was a young teenager, his father passed away and left him as the only child working with his mother to farm walnuts, fruits, vegetables and white leghorn chickens. Everyday friends and neighbors would call a "party line" to order these goods. Aldo also had learned from his Uncle how to make wine. He would sell this wine to his neighbors on the down-low. If you called and wanted Aldo's Zin, you needed the password: Black Chicken. Aldo would then deliver your order on Fridays in his 1940 Studebaker along with a gallon jug of Zin!

Today the family legally makes this divine Zinfandel and it is beloved. Join us for this fun wine dinner celebrating the wonderful wines of Robert Biale, hear more fabulous family stories and enjoy Chef's creative pairings!
