Sooke Summer Social is back and bigger than ever. Our neighbor across the street has kindly agreed to let us use the space for a giant Sooke demo/social.
This is a garb encouraged social - show off your stuff :)
The plan is to have all martial activities visible for local folks to check out. We’d like to have archery - and thrown ranges open all day and a fight practice for each of the disciplines.
We have a day shade and later in the afternoon there is good tree cover so please bring shades. We’d love to show off some tents too (although we can’t camp this year but we can set up on Friday and take down on Sunday) and have space for the more gentle arts. In the evening we’d like to have a bardic circle, we currently can have a gas fire (that may change by August).
Throughout the day we’d will have light snacks as usual and will be smoking a leg of pork to be served in the evening. We will also have this year’s mead on hand and a few classics to crack open for the aging test. These no sleeping in the field but we will have some crash space available sat night. Snacks and drinks welcome.
Our house will be open to bathroom needs and as an air conditioned quiet space for those needing the space or to escape the heat. We can use the cooking space too for any cooked foods being bought in!
Parking will be on Caldwell road but we would like to leave the field side open to visibility. We will be accessing the field from Caldwell.
We are checking if it’s dog friendly, likely if they are controlled as there is frequent wildlife there.
