Hybrid Weekend Meditation Retreat
Saturday & Sunday May 17 - 18, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (Pacific)
Attend in-person at Sonoma Shambhala or on Zoom Presented by the Sonoma Shambhala Meditation Center
In a time when many are searching for meaning, connection, and a way to meet the world’s challenges without becoming overwhelmed, this weekend retreat, often titled Shambhala Training Level I: The Art of Being Human, offers a radically hopeful path. This foundational program introduces meditation as more than a personal practice — it’s a way of being in the world with wakefulness, courage, kindness, and compassion.
Rooted in the Shambhala tradition, this retreat will help us to slow down and reconnect with our innate wisdom. Together, we explore how cultivating fearlessness, gentleness and awareness can transform not just our own lives, but the ways we show up for others. Amid polarization, burnout, and uncertainty, this training reminds us that peace is possible — and that by reconnecting with our human dignity, we can participate in creating a more compassionate society.
This is the first Shambhala Weekend Retreat of a five-weekend series which offers a view of the Shambhala vision of enlightened society by emphasizing how the sanity of meditation can penetrate our daily lives — and from there, how we can uplift our community and the world. There’s no need, however, to commit to the full series.
Together, we’ll practice:
-Sitting and walking meditation and embodied awareness
-Gentle group conversation and shared reflection
-Reclaiming our goodness in the face of harm
-Building inner capacity for meaningful social change
-Everyone is welcome.
This program is for anyone who wants to engage with life more fully, whether you’re new to meditation or seeking a deeper path. The time to rediscover your heart and your strength is now.
