CONTENT DESCRIPTION: Join PPC for our next Continuing Education event, “Understanding the Counseling Compact.” This training event will be offered simultaneously in both in person and Live Webinar format.
This webinar will provide a clear overview of the Counseling Compact, a multi-state agreement that will allow Licensed Professional Counselors to practice across state lines. Participants will learn how the Compact was developed, how it is intended to function, and what to expect as it continues to evolve. The session will also cover practical ways counselors and stakeholders can stay informed about updates and changes to the Compact.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
As a result of attending this training, participants will be able to:
Understand how the Counseling Compact was formed.
Understand the intended operation of the Counseling Compact.
Understand appropriate expectations for the future of the Counseling Compact.
Learn potential ways to stay informed about the Counseling Compact.
PRESENTER BIOS:
Dr. Andrea Brooks is an Associate Professor for the Master of Science in Clinical Counseling (MSCC) graduate program at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri. She has almost 20 years of experience as a counselor and supervisor for counselors and has 17 years of experience as a counselor educator. Andrea is in her eighth and final year as a board member for the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Professional Counselors, with three years of experience as Vice-Chair and three years as Chair. Andrea is the current Kentucky delegate for the Counseling Compact, where she serves as the Vice Chair on the Executive Committee and the Rules Committee Chair. While a member of the Executive Committee, Andrea has made several presentations to counselors about the compact and has proposed several suggestions and edits to the rules and bylaws. Andrea earned an M.Ed. in Counseling and Human Development and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. Clinical experience includes the areas of school-based counseling, residential children’s services and foster care, substance use, and healthcare for the homeless. Andrea lives in eastern Kentucky (in the Red River Gorge) with her husband (Nick), her daughter (Natalie), and her son (Declan).
CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS INFORMATION:
3.00 Contact CE Hours (NBCC)
CE Hours will be awarded to those participants who attend and participate in the entire training event and return a completed program evaluation. No partial credit will be awarded.
