The Pocasset Tribe of the Wampanoag Nation to Host “Meet the Pocassets” Program at Church of Our Saviour
Free and Open to the Public! All are welcome and encouraged to attend! Suitable for all ages!
The people of the Pocasset Tribe of the Wampanoag Nation will host a “Meet the Pocassets” program at the Church of Our Saviour on August 23, 2025.
The program will include Native American crafts and storytelling and is presented by Tribal Historian Ellie Page, Medicine Woman Donna Raindance Page, Pocasset Chief Edward Gray Fox Page, Tribal Council member Kerry Glistening Brook Chavez, and Tribal Council member Alison Peaceful Deer Miller, all of the Pocasset Tribe of the Wampanoag Nation of MA and RI.
This special activity, open to the public, is free and suitable for all ages. It will be held in the undercroft at the Church of Our Saviour on 2112 County Street, Somerset, MA. Come learn about your neighbors, the first people of this area, the Pocasset Wampanoag Nation, whose lands included much of what is now called southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
We acknowledge that the Church of Our Saviour gathers on the traditional lands of the Pocasset Tribe of the Wampanoag Nation of the past and present. We recognize the enduring presence of the Wampanoag Nation, and we honor with gratitude the land itself and the people who have stewarded it for over 10,000 years. Their stewardship inspires us to continue to learn how to be better stewards of the land ourselves.
The Pocasset Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts and Rhode Island is a recognized nation of the state of Massachusetts according to the state Commission on Indian Affairs.
