Дългата сянка на Алоис Брунер изследва истинската история на един от най-издирваните нацистки престъпници избегнал присъда. Обвинен за депортирането на над 100 000 човека в концентрационни лагери и гета, Алоис Брунер успява да избегне опитите да бъде арестуван и бяга нелегално в Дамаск, където става основен съветник при изграждането на сирийските разузнавателните служби.
Драматургът Мудар Алхаджи пристига през 21 век в Берлин като бежанец. Сириецът открива следите на Брунер и започва да проучва историята му. Постепенно тя започва да обсебва собствения му живот докато един ден той изчезва... В това представление виждаме двама актьори, които се опитват да сглобят фрагменти от проучването на писателя, в които личните преживявания, реалните исторически събития, истината и фикцията се преплитат и образуват общ разказ.
Чрез свързването на сирийската с германската история „Дългата сянка на Алоис Брунер” изследва темите за изгнаничеството, отговорността и политическата памет, както и сложните взаимовръзки между миналото и настоящето. Продукцията повдига болезнените въпроси за убежището, справедливостта и надеждата.

In this gripping play, we meet two actors piecing together the fragments of Alhaggi’s research as personal experience, world history, truth and fiction all collide. Weaving together Syrian and German history, The Long Shadow of Alois Brunner explores exile, accountability and political memory – and the complex thread that ties the past to the present.
It raises searing questions about refuge, justice and hope.

The Long Shadow of Alois Brunner explores the true story of one of
the most wanted Nazi criminals to escape conviction. Accused of deporting more than 100,000 people to concentration camps and ghettos, Alois Brunner managed to evade arrest attempts and fled illegally to Damascus, where he became a key advisor in building the Syrian intelligence services.
Playwright Mudar Alhaji arrives in 21st century Berlin as a refugee. The Syrian discovers Brunner's trail and begins to research his story. Gradually it begins to haunt his own life until one day he disappears... In this performance we see two actors trying to piece together fragments of the writer's research, in which personal experiences, actual historical events, truth and fiction intertwine to form a common narrative.
By linking Syrian to German history, The Long Shadow of Alois Brunner explores themes of exile, responsibility and political memory, as well as the complex interconnections between past and present. The production raises painful questions of asylum, justice and hope.
