On July 16th we are meeting at the Safeway Parking lot in Smithers to head up to Moose Mountain and see if people want to hop into each other's vehicles.
I'll be parking at the back of the safeway parking lot in the middle of chevron and scotiabank. I've got a she Hikes sticker on the car hatch to help identify as well.
The end time is not exact and can change with weather or hiking abilities. This hike is great for kids, however any smaller kids id would suggest bringing a carrier. If you don't have a carrier, I have two extras to lend out.
To reach this trail, turn north off highway 16 onto Babine lake Road, then take a right at km 19.5 onto Canyon creek forest service road - the trail will be on your left after another 11.7km. This well - worn easy to follow trail follows a clear path with some creek crossings and reaching the summit in the Quick Hills. This hike is about 2.5km each way.
What to bring:
- a baby carrier (does not have to be a baby backpack, it can be a from carrier as well depending on age)
-water bottle for you and another one for your little one (or milk bottles, bring an extra one incase of a emergency) (example if in 2 hours of your babies regular day your baby has one bottle bring one extra, or if your hiking for 4 hours bring 2 extra just in case.)
- an extra change of clothes for your littles (so they can get messy and have the ability to change at the vehicle or on the trail) I personally bring a change of clothes with me just incase of potential accidents or getting too cold from the muddy pants.
- a backpack to put items in
-sunscreen and sunglasses and a jacket
-bring some snacks for you and your littles (examples: trail-mix, fruit, cheese, crackers)
- BUG SPRAY , this warm weather and stating water has made the bugs hungry so to avoid the itchiness bring some repellant of your choice
Things to consider whenever hiking
-bring bear spray (i'll have my own but if ever hiking alone definitely invest in some)
-having a mini first aid kit (accidents happen so its always best to be prepared) Ill have my own but it is another investment to look into it in the future
-look into doing up a trip plan whenever doing any adventure (trip planning is a great way to be aware of your trip, and for others to be aware as well) I'll bring one as an example
- Any injuries to one's self, or family member(s), or car incidents is at the user's own risk. this group is volunteer and not responsible for said occurrences
