Pack Basket Weaving Workshop

Join us for a two-day Pack Basket Weaving Workshop with Rose Holdorf!

Dates: June 21st & 22nd

Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Location: Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture

We are excited to welcome invited artist Rose Holdorf for an immersive workshop where participants will learn the art of basket weaving! In this workshop, participants will create their own basket backpack, perfect for carrying farmers market finds, foraging treasures, picnic essentials, or any other kind of adventure.

Workshop Overview:

Day 1

Natural Dyeing & Basket Weaving Foundations

- Begin with an introduction to natural dyeing techniques to create vibrant cotton straps and weaving accents.

- Prepare materials and start weaving the basket, focusing on crafting the base and body.

Day 2

Finishing Touches & Assembly

- Complete the basket with a rim tied with seagrass and rattan for added strength and elegance.

- Through learning to assemble a natural cotton harness, participants will transform their creation into a functional and stylish backpack!

By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with a custom-made basket backpack ready for their next adventure!

- Garden clippers

- A full-sized towel

All other materials will be supplied.

About the Instructor:

Rose Holdorf grew up in Oregon's Soap Creek Valley, surrounded by fir forests and oak savannas. She is dedicated to craft education, teaching skills like wood carving, fabric dyeing, and basket weaving throughout Oregon and across the country. Rose’s work fosters connections between people, nature, and craft, empowering others to build a deeper relationship with the world around them.
