ATELIER ARCADIA
Atelier Arcadia is an Asia-based indie publishing collective. We founded this collective because we understand how difficult it might be to take the first steps to kick-start projects, or to find collaborators to suit your needs. Creative work is also often an incredibly isolating and lonely process — but it does not have to be. That is where we can help. We welcome you to engage with us — as a long-term collaborator, contributor, or just out of curiosity — and to be part of our story.
We promise: it’ll be an exciting one.
WRITING THE CITY
Writing The City was founded in 2011 with the support of the British Council and the National Arts Council Singapore. Today, we are a literary arts platform in Singapore which supports a community of new, emerging and established prose writers to develop their writing craft. Our purpose is to illuminate all the different, beautiful ways that writing can come to be.
ABOUT OUR FEATURES
Justina Lim
Justina Lim is a Singaporean writer whose work explores the extremity of human nature: guilt, desperation, desolation. By day, she crafts words that sell in advertising and marketing; by night, she writes to understand the things that refuse to be sold. Justina is also a volunteer English tutor for lesser-privileged communities in Singapore.
Cleo Cheng
Cleo Cheng is the Golden Point Award-winning poet behind collections like “american/dream” and “bite.”
At her day job, she's an editor at a global newsroom headquartered in New York.
Her new book, “mirror monster dagger doom,” a silkpunk fantasy collection, launches in June.
She’s currently working on “The Fold,” a coming-of-age novel; and two other YA-fiction projects.
Miriam Cheong
Miriam used to write a lot of prose in a pink 6-ring binder, which she proudly asked all her secondary school classmates to read because she thought she was a Very Good Author.
She now mostly writes for the theatre, combining her love for both writing and acting. Her autobiographical work, The Other F Word, received nominations for Best Actress and Best Original Script. Her international debut, Sunday School of Hard Knocks, received a Judge’s Pick in Theatre at the 2023 Melbourne Fringe Festival. She is currently working on a lofi tongue in cheek Singapore theatre retrospective just in time for SG60, where she is lead creative.
After dusting off her many unused but pretty journals, she looks forward to terrorising the literary arts once again.
Raey Ang
Raey Ang is an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker. She says theatre is her first love, film is who she married and writing is her mistress on the side. Much like her films, she writes in hope that when you experience her work, you too will feel less alone. You may learn more about her creative endeavours at www.thatfighterjet.com
