What does the future of Singaporeโs coastline look like, and what do we stand to lose or gain as we reshape our coasts for protection? How can nature-based solutions coexist with hard infrastructure as sea levels rise and coastal developments accelerate?
Singaporeโs coastline has long been at the frontline of transformation, shaped by decades of land reclamation, urban infrastructure and port development. Today, these shorelines face a new set of challenges from sea level rise, ocean warming, continued reclamation, and erosion. At the same time, large-scale coastal protection plans like the Long Island project are set to redefine our relationship with the sea.
In this workshop facilitated by the ๐ฆ๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐ผ๐๐๐ต ๐ฉ๐ผ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐๐, join us to explore the evolving landscape of Singaporeโs coasts through the lens of climate resilience and biodiversity conservation.
This programme is designed to engage and empower youth as the primary audience, providing them with a dynamic platform to explore and learn. At the same time, it warmly welcomes participants of all ages, recognising that environmental advocacy, and the pathway towards a sustainable future, is a collective undertaking.
Whether you are a young changemaker just starting out or someone passionate about supporting youth-led initiatives, this inclusive space invites everyone to join the conversation, share perspectives and contribute to building a more just, sustainable and biodiverse future together.

What kind of future are we building for our city, and how can it reflect care for communities and the natural world? How can youth play a meaningful role in guiding this journey and reimagine the ways Singapore engages with its landscapes and biodiversity?
From unpacking Singaporeโs land-use history and envisioning sustainable coastal adaptation to examining biodiversity policy and amplifying youth participation in climate diplomacy, this four-part forum spotlights youth-led conversations and workshops that empower young changemakers to engage critically with our environmental future.
Designed for young people, but open to all, each session invites participants to reflect, engage and take action for a more biodiverse and resilient Singapore. Come be part of the conversation as we rethink how cities grow, how nature is valued, and how youth can lead the way.
Organised in collaboration with the Singapore Youth Voices for Biodiversity (SYVB) as part of ArtScience Museum's Sustainable Futures Season.

Founded in 2019, SYVB is the local chapter of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN), serving as the official youth constituency to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The youth-led network empowers Singaporean youth to actively engage in biodiversity conservation by providing a platform for participation in policy dialogues, consultations and international forums. Through initiatives such as policy advocacy, youth consultations and collaborative projects, SYVB aims to align local efforts with the global vision of "Living in Harmony with Nature" by 2050.
