Peter Giri & The Oregon Crafters Market

Peter Giri (under his given name Pete Kowalke) started out in the music business in the Deep South in a band called “Cowboy.” Cowboy was signed to the legendary Capricorn Records most famous for Otis Redding, The Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, Wet Willie, Sea Level, Elvin Bishop, Percy Sledge, and many others.

Cowboy opened regularly for the Allman Brothers up and down the east coast, playing Fillmore East twice in 1971. After hearing Duane Allman playing dobro slide on a Cowboy song, “Please Be With Me”, Eric Clapton did a version of it On his 461 Ocean Boulevard album.

After Cowboy ended Peter continued playing in various bands and doing solo gigs from Southern California to New Jersey and inbetween. As of late, Peter has spent about 18 years playing in the Eugene Oregon area at clubs, breweries, and wineries as a single and in bands.

Peter recently moved to Newberg in early 2021 and begun playing solo gigs at the many places nearby. He is currently working to form a band to do more original and select covers for festival engagements.
