We are having another picnic for August, on Saturday 2nd, at 2pm, in the Quarry Park once again! We have a discussion topic to share around this time; “Pagan Folklore”. A lot of aspects of pagan belief and mythology are thought to have survived in British folklore, which connects us to the imaginations of our ancestors. Tales of fairies, giants, dragons, saints and ancient heroes contain echoes of a magical and mysterious past, while traditions of seasonal festivities, folk wisdom and ‘witchcraft’ are a source for many modern pagan revivals. Are there any aspects of folklore that have great meaning for you? Do you know much about Shropshire folklore? Come along to join the discussion, share something you know, or learn something new!
We’ll meet up by the bandstand and find somewhere to picnic (and if the weather is wet we’ll find somewhere dry instead). Please bring something to sit on if you need it (e.g. a blanket or chair), and food and drink of course, for yourself or to share. This will just be a very relaxed gathering. (Sorry for posting this at such late notice!)
The Pagan Grove is a relaxed group to meet, share and discuss beliefs, ideas and experiences, with like-minded or infinitely diverse souls. You don’t need to have any prior knowledge of paganism, or even to call yourself a pagan, to be welcomed here.
