This exploratory workshop offers a hands-on introduction to the world of abstract painting. You will explore key concepts such as colour, shape, texture and composition, as well as expresses ideas and emotions through non- representational art. Through guided exercises and creative experimentation you will discover techniques for working with acrylics.
This one day workshop is suitable for most artists – from beginners to improvers.

About David
David has an eclectic style that embraces landscape, portraiture and abstraction- a fusion of realism, abstraction and contemplative practice. He endeavours to capture a sense of place, the essence of a person and the fleeting energies and changes of emotion and thought. Whether through evocative portraits or dynamic landscapes, David hopes that his work speaks to the essence of human emotions and the elemental push and pull of Nature.
David studied at the Camberwell School of Art and went on to create his own design studio providing graphic design solutions locally and exhibiting his artwork in the UK and abroad. David primarily paints in acrylics but is now exploring the use of oil paints and cold wax to create a more enlivened and translucent finish to his work. His expressive and textural paintings evoke an emotional response that plays on memory and colour.
David works with sketches and photographic reference, but this is over ceded by imagination and memory. His expressive and textural paintings are heavily influenced by emotion, mood and ideas that emerge during the painting process. Music and meditation also play a part and influence the direction of a painting and its title.
