Fringe Preview - Doom & Glitter Shrewsbury

You don’t have to go all the way to Edinburgh for this beloved Fringe show! Shrewsbury Pride are delighted to welcome Mr Brake Down back to Shrewsbury as he tours his tribute to the legend that is Tom Waits.

In this eclectic cabaret hour filled with vocal impersonations, live music, and bluesy banter, drag king Mr Brake Down and his band pay tribute to the wit and wonderment of the iconic Tom Waits. Gloriously odd and experimental, the show takes audiences on a musical journey through some of Waits’ seminal works, whilst Brake expounds on just how much a drag king from South Wales might have in common with the California-born performer. Expect to be bemused in a highly enjoyable fashion by a show that must be seen to be believed! The all-new Doom & Glitter band features Sophie Kearney and Steve Lincoln on live instruments with original arrangements and compositions from the band created, led, and operated by Sian Peters.

There will be support from another Shrewsbury Pride festival favourite, Count D. Ranged, a Shropshire based illustrator, storyteller and drag king.

This event is a joint fundraiser for Mr Brake Down’s 2025 Edinburgh show and Shrewsbury Pride 2025.
