Put a Lid on It: Engineering Safety Helmets (Ages 8 - 12)

Gear up for an action-packed summer of engineering, innovation, and impact! Explore the science behind helmet design and discover how protective gear helps prevent brain injuries. Through hands-on engineering challenges, they’ll design, build, and crash-test their safety helmets, applying real-world STEM concepts in physics, material science, and biomechanics. But this camp goes beyond just design—it sparks crucial conversations. Campers will have the unique opportunity to meet a former NFL athlete who has experienced the long-term effects of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). They’ll learn firsthand about the importance of head protection in sports and everyday activities, making science both personal and powerful. From brainstorming ideas to testing prototypes, campers will think like engineers, problem-solvers, and changemakers—all while having a blast!

This year's summer camp drop-off and pick-up location will be in the Technology Building, at the entrance of the LSUS Collaborative.

Register by 7/8/25 to get the early bird price of $179.00. After that date the cost will be $199.00.
