24Km, Three peaks, One mission: to end local homelessness.
Did you know that people experiencing homelessness often walk an average of 11 miles a day in search of safety, food, and shelter?
Step up and take part in the walk where every mile makes a difference.
Walkers of all ages are invited to take on the Sussex Three Peaks Challenge, a unique opportunity to enjoy the beautiful South Downs while raising money for homelessness charity Turning Tides.
Led by experienced mountain leaders Cathy from Heads Up Adventure and Fred from Boondock Events, this guided 24 km route starts in Steyning and takes in three iconic local peaks: Steep Down, Cissbury Ring, and Chanctonbury Ring before heading back to Steyning.
The walk, estimated to take between 7 and 8.5 hours, offers not just a physical challenge but also moments of reflection on rural homelessness and the difficulties people face while homeless.
We'll stop for lunch and breaks along the way, offering opportunity to enjoy the beautiful view and hear first hand how your fundraising will help.
Planting Roots: Helping People Start Fresh and Putting Down Roots for the Future
By taking part in this challenge, you’re helping people on their journey out of homelessness—giving them the chance to build new lives and set down roots. But your impact doesn’t stop there!
For every participant, a tree will be planted, creating lasting change for the planet. You’ll also receive a biodegradable medal filled with wildflower seeds, so you can continue growing something beautiful long after your challenge is complete.

- Distance: 24 km (just under 15 miles)
- Duration: 7 – 8.5 hours (including snack and lunch stops)
- Meeting time 8:45am, start time 9am
- Registration Fee: £20
- Fundraising Target: £200 per participant

-Suitable walking footwear and weather-appropriate clothing.
-Packed lunch and water bottle.

-A hike led by experienced mountain guides and navigators and first aiders.
By taking part, you’ll be raising funds to support Turning Tides’ vital work. Together, we can ensure no one faces the trauma of homelessness alone.
Terms and Conditions apply, participants are agreeing to a fundraisers agreement by registering and agree to fundraising with 80% of the fundraising target reached by 4 weeks before the event. You'll be supported to reach to your target with our team on hand to help.
