This hike is mostly canopied by trees and many times is an ideal hike, this week will feature ..........
Very pleasant streams, with mossy rocks and in forest, both going up and going down and hopefully a glimpse of fall colors
Strenuosity: 6 (1 easy, 10 hard) Total time: 5 to 7 hours Net vertical climb: 674 meters. At the top if the weather is sunny and clear we will be able to view Fuji-san. The downhill on this hike has been disrupted by many typhoons in the recent years, so hiking sticks are suggested. Definitely good soles on your boots are needed.
We will take the Keio Line Limited Express for Keio-Hachioji at Shinjuku station departing at 9:01 (usually Platform 3)
Let's Meet at the FRONT car of the train - (e.g. the front is determined by the direction of the train)
then stay on the same train at Kitano(9:41) station switching to a local Keio-Takao line destined for Takaosanguchi (at 9:43) where we will arrive at Takao at 9:53, we will then change trains to the JR at this point Leaving Takao on Chuo line at 9:57 to then go to Torisawa arriving at 10:37. We will return to Tokyo via Yanagawa station likely around 6 - 7 hours later including lunch. Currently there are no onsen's convenient to this hike.
Please arrive 15 minutes earlier to make sure you can make it to the correct spot - the Keio line does not provide Track number information, so your way of identifying this train is the Title "Keio Line Limited Express (for Keio Hachioji)" and the time "9:01 am"
The fare for this train routing is much cheaper than the JR all the way so, the expense on the way out is 880Y vs. 1340Y and the arrival is the same timing.
Please let me know if you will come - but last minute without notice is ok too!.....it's just nice to know how many to expect.
Please make sure that you are well equipped and let me know that you are planning to come.
2 Liters of water, Lunch, Hiking boots , Hiking stick if you have it, Sunscreen, Hat
Please note that we depart ON TIME and cannot wait for you if you don't make the trains described here. You can meet us on the way if you connect from other parts of the area. You are also responsible for your own well being, decision to hike and safety along the way. Hiking insurance is suggested but not mandatory. Please let me know if you are coming so we can expect you at Shinjuku Keio or along the way.
