The final event of this summer's Bee Line March 250th Anniversary will be an encampment of Revolutionary War reenactors at Shepherdstown's Morgan's Grove Park. This will be a family-friendly event: admission will be free and everyone will be welcome.
Come out and learn about the Bee Line March and the Revolutionary War, and how the American soldiers of that time lived and trained.
The event will start at Shepherdstown's Morgan's Grove Park at 10:00 am. The activities at the park will include the following:
-Fife and drum demonstrations by the Old Line Fife and Drum Corps from Frederick, MD.
-Drill and flintlock demonstrations.
-Demonstrations of Revolutionary War camp life.
-Talks in the Park pavilion about various aspects of Revolutionary War history.
-18th Century games for children.
Food trucks will offer barbeque, soft drinks, and ice cream for purchase.
At about 3:00 pm, the reenactors will march to downtown Shepherdstown, led by the Old Line Fife and Drum Corps. Members of the public will be welcome to join in the march. When the marchers arrive downtown, they will position themselves at various locations to engage visitors and townspeople in discussions about the Bee Line March and the Revolutionary War.
At about 5:00 pm, the reenactors will gather on the McMurran Hall lawn for a commemorative event featuring a short talk about the importance of the Bee Line March. Afterwards, they will have supper at Alma Bea's Restaurant and then return to spend the night at Morgan's Grove Park.
