Discover Freemasonry in Sheffield
Why not join us as we open our doors to the public on the weekend of 19/20th July when we will be giving a rare glimpse into the mysteries sometimes associated with Freemasons?
Our Lodge rooms will be open and we’ll have people on hand to answer questions, or you can simply look around – we will have a lot of displays of our history and regalia for you to see.
You can discover how Freemasonry developed from the ancient stone mason’s trade, what its aims and objectives are and how it became the world’s largest non- religious non- political Fraternity with an estimated 6 million members worldwide.
Organised Freemasonry began in 1717 but Lodges were meeting for many years before that, you might be surprised to hear where and how it all started, it’s a fascinating story!
Our members come from all walks of life irrespective of race, religion, wealth or social status and we really enjoy our meetings. Our ceremonies are fascinating and steeped in history, but we still make time to forge lifelong friendships and to eat and drink together. We’ll explain what Freemasonry is all about, its charitable framework and what it means to be a Freemason in a modern age.
