Future Funk with DJ Si Mclean
Si’s spiritual home is in front of a pair of 1210’s and a fat soundsystem.
Making his name on the free party scene in and around Bristol in the late 90’s early 00’s when it was all about the techno, producing, playing and promoting the now legendary Species nights at Trinity Centre.
He’s played alongside the likes of 808 State, CJ Bolland, Sven Vath, The LIberators, Eat Static, Dave Angel, Jamie Anderson, DJ Rush, Nicky Blackmarket and Jesse Rose to name a few.
A move up north in 2004 and a change in music style followed with him developing a nu skool breaks sound and a more eclectic style promoting and playing under the North n South moniker.
“I wanted to have more fun with music, express myself more than what a 4 x 4 techno allowed me” “I like to mix stuff together that surprises people, it keeps the crowd guessing”
Running nights in Sheffield for years at The Earl, DQ, The Harley and a residency at Hagglers Corner as North & South with the great late Rich Pastrami. He’s played at festivals all over from Boomtown, Shambala, Bestival, Valley Fest, Tramlines, Glastonbury and around Europe as well as more clubs than he cares to remember!!
Si plays exclusively on vinyl, quite a rare thing nowadays, and has one mission when behind the decks and that’s to get the crowd jumping.
Expect a large serving of Killer Breaks, Ghetto Funk, Dancehall, new Garage and Jungle garnished with some utterly filthy bass and a sprinkle of the unexpected.
Get ready, Si Mclean is coming with a bag of vinyl and he’s gonna be dropping more gems than a clumsy jeweller.
