Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in our nation, but it was only a first step toward real equality. Explore life for non-white families in 1920s Shawnee, from their challenges to their accomplishments, and some of the personal stories the Museum has been researching!

Tour of the Truck Garden!
Visit our working 1920s-style vegetable garden with our staff and explore the summer crops, planting techniques, cold frames system, and learn about all aspects of the biggest industry in Johnson County 100 years ago – including why it was called “Truck Farming!”

Technology of the 20s
Come explore all the major changes that have come to Shawnee! Staff will guide visitors around downtown and explore all the newest technology and inventions! From transportation to communication to food, learn how they changed everyday life forever.

This tour is included with General Admission. Space is limited, and first-come first-serve. This Tour will replace the normal 11:00am guided tour time that day! Normal tours will be resume again at 12:00pm.
