Sturgeon Moon Swim

Experience the enchanting allure of a full moon swim at Shaftesbury Lido, Dorset's only lido. Nestled in the heart of Shaftesbury, this cherished council-run facility offers a unique setting for an invigorating swim under the moonlit sky.

The August full moon is known as the Sturgeon moon. Because it is named after one of the oldest and most primitive fish species, some astrologers believe that it spiritually signifies strength and resilience.

• Doors open at 9:00pm
• Sunset is at 8:40pm
• Doors close at 10:30pm

Shaftesbury Lido is a 25-yard open-air pool managed by Shaftesbury Town Council and staffed by a dedicated team of fully qualified lifeguards. During the summer months, the pool is heated to 29 degrees, providing a warm and welcoming environment for swimmers of all ages.
