Under the October Full Harvest Moon, join us to bridge the inner and outer through sound, rhythm, and community. We opted for a day early because the temperatures this time of year can drop to be uncomfortable after sunset. That being said, the forecast looks perfect for Sunday.
Around 5:30pm, we begin the Sedona Drum & Healing Circle, a collaborative improvisational drumming journey for all ages and abilities. Bring your drum, percussion, singing bowls, flutes, handpans, didgeridoos, voice, or any acoustic sound-healing instrument you love.
Throughout the evening, our intention is for the drums to intermittently rest, allowing space to create a soundscape of subtle vibration together in a similar improvisational and collaborative manner. In these stillness windows, we invite singing bowls, flutes, voices, didgeridoos, handpans, bells, shakers, and other acoustic instruments to shift the energy toward resonance, clam, and inner alignment. Next, all the frame drums are invited to add heartbeat rhythms, and soon the the percussion and drums gradually and intentionally build up patterns of rhythms. This is a space for spontaneous play, authentic expression, self-love, land reverence, community, and presence.
Please bring water, a chair or blanket, red LED lights, a warm layer and a flashlight for the short hike down. The walk from the Yavapai Vista parking lot to the plateau is less than 10 minutes and mostly easy (a few steeper stretches). Take note of where the trail forks, for the way down can be confusing in the dark.
Please park responsibly. Extra parking is available across Hwy 179 at Courthouse Butte. From there, two trail options: one leads to Yavapai Vista parking lot along Hwy 179, another climbs directly to the plateau across the highway.
As always, respect the land. Pack out all trash, no fires, and no flash photography to preserve the ambiance. This is National Forest land, so fire or litter can jeopardize our future use. Please take responsibility for yourself, your companions, and your pets.
The sunsets around 6pm and the moon will rise about the same time.
