In this workshop, we will be learning about the carving process, including processing wood rounds, creating designs, selecting tools, and working with wood. We will also touch on the wide range Indigenous carving traditions and communities.
Jennifer Angaiak Wood an artist of Yup'ik, Irish and Italian descent, and was born and raised in Fairbanks, AK. Jennifer started carving masks in high school, and has been largely self taught. She uses her art as a way to connect with her Yup'ik heritage and bring a little bit of Yup'ik history into the modern world.
