Seattle Yiddish Fest returns for an evening of inspiring klezmer music, Yiddish songs, Hasidic nigunim and more, featuring legendary Klezmatics members Frank London (Trumpet, Keyboard) and Lorin Sklamberg (Vocals, Accordion)!
This year's featured guests will be joined by local legends Jessica Lurie (Saxophone, flute) and Lori Goldston (Cello), plus festival director Craig Judelman (Violin) and Keith Judelman (Bass).
As The Klezmatics prepare to celebrate 40 years of incredible music, we are thrilled to have these incredible musicians leading an all-star band. They are pioneers of the klezmer revival, GRAMMY winners and so much more. Read more about the festival and join our mailing list at .
Also join us for workshops with Frank and Lorin May 17 and 18 from 12-4pm. The workshops are open to everyone and will offer a chance to celebrate community and Yiddish music through singing and playing together, hearing stories of the history of the Klezmatics and evolution of the revitalization of Klezmer music and learn some amazing repertoire as well as context and ways to play this music imeaningfully n both a traditional and experimental way!

Info: In addition to the concert, our featured guests Lorin Sklamberg, Frank London and fesitval director Craig Judelman will host workshops on Saturday and Sunday May 17/18 for all who are interested in Yiddish music. The workshops will meet in one large group learning songs, history and cultural context as well as details about musical style and collective music making. Drawing on the repertoire from their performance, the workshops will focus on Songs of Resilience as well as Hasidic Nigunim. More info and registration at www.seattleyiddishfest.com
Info: This year we're lucky to have our friends in the Magid Ensemble stopping through town on their west coast tour to present an incredible Jewish folk tale told with live original klezmer music and a gorgeous handmade shadow cranky. The performance 'Shterna and the Lost Voice' will take place at Woodlawn Hall near greenlake on Sunday May 18. Info: Our workshops will meet all together on May 17 and 18 from 12-4pm to explore Yiddish music with pioneers of the Klezmer Revival and founding members of The Klezmatics, Lorin Sklamberg and Frank London. We will sing, play, talk and celebrate this beautiful culture together in one group, with a focus on how we can deepen our experience of the music and use it to express ourselves and find connection and unity in these difficult times.
