Join us for a 2.5 hour special workshop hosted by Sam and Robert
Sam and Robert Explore is a reoccurring workshop concept where we will take you on a deep dive through a topic that we are passionate about - you will get a glimpse into how we think, and interpret this dance - both as individuals as well as within our partnership.
Our goal is to provide a space where you are encouraged to ask questions, talk through your ideas, and discover your own identity in this dance.
------
The Topic for this workshop is: Listening Skills - Partner Edition!
West Coast Swing is a conversation, and the key to any good conversation is being a good listener. Understanding what your partner is saying through their connection, position, and frame is what ultimately leads to the best, most collaborative dances.
We will be exploring how we can listen to each other, both as leads and follows - we will break down what it means to "give space" in a pattern, as well as how to "talk" within the connection, and how you can build these skills for yourself.
What you can expect during this 2 hour workshop:
- An Introduction to Listening by Sam and Robert
- Partnered movement and Exploration of Concepts
- Discussion and Q&A
- Open Practice near the end to apply the skills socially.
Please come with:
- An understanding of you 6 and 8-count basics
- A base understanding of frame and connection
- An open mind to explore new concepts
You do not need a partner for this workshop - we will be rotating
