Pacific Northwest Guitar Legend Jerry Miller Gets All-Star Tribute
This celebration runs August 17 from 4-8 PM, promising to be both a fitting tribute and a reminder of the enduring influence of one of rock's most undersung heroes.
In a heartfelt celebration of psychedelic rock royalty, the Northwest music community comes together to honor the late Jerry Miller, Moby Grape's pioneering guitarist who left an indelible mark on American rock. This tribute, curated by Miller's son Joseph and longtime collaborator Dan Abernethy, promises to be a four-hour sonic journey through the icon's remarkable legacy.
Headliners Wail Bone, featuring Joseph Miller and Abernethy alongside original Moby Grape drummer Don Stevenson, will share the stage with regional powerhouses The Vududes and Billy Stapleton's Powerhouse. The lineup reads like a who's who of Northwest rock, fitting for a man Eric Clapton once dubbed "the best guitar player in the world."
Miller, who passed away at 81, emerged from Tacoma's fertile 1960s scene alongside Jimi Hendrix, crafting a signature style that seamlessly fused rock, blues, folk, and country. While his Moby Grape credentials earned him international acclaim, Miller remained loyal to his Pacific Northwest roots, continuing to inspire generations of musicians until his final days.
