It's time again for Cold Reads/Cold Brews! On Wednesday July 9 at 7pm, we'll be gathering to read "A Muslim in the Midst" by Anand Rao.
On the streets of Bangalore, India, a poor Muslim family is stranded. Desperate to reach a relative’s home in a distant suburb, the new immigrants to the city are struggling to find a ride late in the night. Watching them closely is a liberal and westernized Hindu couple who offer them a ride. The conversation quickly takes an unexpected turn as the two worlds collide just days after the 9/11 attacks in NYC.
Anand Rao is a bi-lingual writer, actor, director, part-time academic, and management consultant. Born and raised in Bangalore, India, he has played prominent roles in over 50 theater productions in English and his native language Kannada. A strong proponent of social justice, multi-cultural theater and performing arts, he has worked closely with many multi-ethnic performing arts groups in Utah, New York, and New Jersey, directing plays, hosting stage shows, training children, writing scripts, and offering strategic advice to individuals and companies.
What is Cold Reads/Cold Brews?
It's a monthly gathering of people interested in reading plays while quaffing a beverage of choice at a local public house. It is also a way that Latitude Theatre brings our programming out into the public of Seattle. And it's FREE!
Read and/or watch. Roles will be filled by those in attendance.
Come join us on Wednesday July 9 at 7pm in the Annex of St. Andrews Pub (7406 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA) as we gather, we read plays, we talk about plays, we sip a beer (or other tasty drink), we have some laughs, we have some fries, and in the end, we have fun together, while experiencing life through the words of playwrights from all over the world.
