Black Jaw Reading Series with UW MFA Program

Join us for works-in-progress and open-mic with the University of Washington Creative Writing MFA program!

Black Jaw is a monthly reading series hosted by students in the UW MFA. This reading series is named after the inner gums and mouth of the Chinook salmon, which are native to the rivers of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. Our readings aim to feature this interior space of two to three of our own graduate readers and at least one undergraduate reader. Following a brief intermission, we open the floor to invite members of the community to share their work on the mic. Black Jaw aims to provide a space for creative writers to share new experimental pieces or rough and raw works-in-progress and to build a supportive creative community.
