Guitar Legend Alain Johannes Brings the Rock to Sleight of Hand Cellars with Full Band Debut!
Few artists outside Seattle have contributed more to its rock scene than the legendary Alain Johannes. A guitarist, songwriter, and producer whose resume reads like a history of modern rock, Johannes has played in Eleven, Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, PJ Harvey, and the Chris Cornell Band—co-writing and co-producing Euphoria Mourning with Cornell and the late Natasha Shneider. He was also a longtime collaborator with Mark Lanegan, helping shape the sound of many of his solo albums.
This year, Johannes returns to Sleight of Hand Cellars—but this time, he’s plugging in. After a of couple of unforgettable acoustic performances in our tasting room, Johannes is back with the Alain Johannes Band, featuring Gene Trautmann (Queens of the Stone Age) on drums. This run focuses on Johannes’ heavier catalog, including songs from Eleven, QOTSA, and Desert Sessions. Also joining the bill: Seattle’s own high-octane trio, Monsterwatch.
Johannes is also part of a new group,, Drink the Sea, alongside Barrett Martin, Duke Garwood, and Peter Buck.
