A collaboration between the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra and the Sustain Music Project, this evocative program explores the meaning of home—whether as a place, a memory, or a dream—through the voices of American and contemporary composers. William Grant Still’s Out of the Silence and Serenade offer lyrical reflections on peace, love, and longing. Olli Mustonen’s Nonetto II adds complexity and tension, evoking the challenges of forging connection in an uncertain world. The world premiere of Leanna Primiani’s No Hiding Place confronts themes of vulnerability, displacement, and the urgent need for sanctuary and justice. The concert concludes with Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring Suite (original 13-instrument version), a beloved American classic that celebrates hope, renewal, and the search for belonging.
Together, these works invite us to reflect on what it means to belong—and how music helps us find our way home.
