International Workers Memorial Day in Seaham

Join the Durham Miners Association in Seaham to mark International Workers Memorial Day (IWMD). Our IWMD event takes places on Saturday 26 April at Christ Church, Seaham, SR7 OBH, beginning at 10am. All welcome.

We hope you will be with us as the DMA joins with one of our former mining communities to remember those who have lost their lives at work or from work-related injury and disease. We also renew our pledge to support the wider trade union movement to prevent further deaths, injuries and disease.

The service will feature introductions from Revd Anita Burke and DMA Chair Stephen Guy, an address from Fiona Belgian of Thompsons Solicitors, readings from the Mayor of Seaham June Watson and NASUWT junior vice president Dan Lister, plus performances from the NASUWT Brass Band.

Following the service, we will move outside to the Miners Memorial for speeches by PCS General Secretary Fran Heathcote and DMA Secretary Alan Mardghum followed by the laying of wreaths.

All are welcome to join us as we remember those we have lost and organise in their memory.
