About the Project:
"Resonance – The Flow of Compassion" is an installation reflecting on the fractal, crystalline nature of being. The Hundredth Monkey Theory, written by Ken Keys, is a philosophy that celebrates the opportunity for humankind and society to escalate lasting change. The one hundredth monkey is the arbitrary ‘tipping point’ signifying the critical number for a breakthrough of new behavior, new awareness, to come round to fruition. The idea was based on the philosophy of Rupart Sheldrake’s morphic resonance, an inherent collective memory that influences behavior. Human communication, like water, flows, clears, breaks, and expands. It pushes creative thought to manifestation.
This piece is executed on CMale digitally printed CAD fabric with over-painting and embroidery. Metallic embroidery thread is made reflective through led lighting. Electroluminescent thread is also incorporated, pushing the boundaries of textile design by combining the functionality of a wire with the luminescence of a light source. The work will be visible any time of day or night.

Artist Statement:
“My art involves an ongoing interest in consciousness. I seek to portray the underlying energy that is delivered through the material plane and yet can be known beyond the material plane.
“As a surface designer, I use stamped, stenciled, and repetitive pattern as ground to express the underlying energy that informs all life. The acrylic over-painting creates images of the material world. I often use wax for emphasis and contrast or embroidery to offer a sense of flow throughout the image. The works request the viewer to consider the duality of being.
“Many individuals today are consciously aware of themselves as creators and directors of culture. These individuals are my audience and the reason I continue to make images. I am fascinated working with concepts that may inspire and sustain not only my curiosity and engagement with life force, but the curiosity and engagement of those that connect with the work. The understanding of these energetic capacities expands the possibilities of what it means to be human and offers opportunities for an enriched life experience.” – Cindy Male
