What is Pilates?
Pilates is a mind body practice focusing on improving coordination, strength, balance, and posture through a targeted series of full-body exercises. Mat Pilates is a flowing exercise completed on your mat. We use our body weight as resistance. One of the core principles of pilates focuses on body awareness, core strength, breath work and movement. In a classical Pilates setting, we build on improving overall bodily function that we can carry off our mat that will enhance our health & movement. The class is taught using slow controlled movements. The repertoire of movements strengthens our muscles, lower back, pelvic floor, hips, glutes, and abdominals through a series of exercises.
These exercises are sure to sculpt your muscles and give your body a lean look. Floor Pilates can improve your posture as stretching is a vital part of this exercise to improve your range of motion.
