Featured Reader: Marianna Boncek
Marianna is an author, researcher, and Egyptologist living in New York's Hudson's Valley. She has published two popular nonfictions books, two novels and a chapbook of poetry. Her poems and short stories have appeared in a variety of journals. Her poem "Bittersweet" won the 2021 Stephen DiBiase prize for poetry. She is also a playwright and two of her works have been featured in venues throughout the Hudson Valley. She is the daughter of a Navy Corpsman, Louis Boncek, who received a purple heart in the Battle of Guam and the niece of Corporal James J. Moran, Jr. who earned a Silver Star for his brave actions in Korea during the Battle of Hoengsong. She lives with her partner, Dave Kime Army Specialist 4th Class, M60 A3 tank driver/gunner who served during the Cold War.
