Sounds of Old and New - Kenny Endo

Garden of Culture at Hakone is a new fundraiser event series featuring Asian performing arts in our historic garden to further our mission of promoting cultural exchange and support maintaining our grounds. Hakone Estate and Gardens is a 110 year old Japanese garden owned by the City of Saratoga and operated by Hakone Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non profit. Proceeds from the Garden of Culture series support preserving Hakone's authenticity for public enjoyment.

Join us for a stunning performance set within Hakone's iconic garden as a backdrop!

Hakone's inaugural Garden of Culture performance during AAPI Heritage Month, Sounds of Old and New, features renowned taiko artist with guest artists Chizuko Endo (taiko/percussion), Mas Koga (saxophone, flute, shakuhachi), Jay Lai (guzheng, electric keyboard), and Hiroshi Tanaka (taiko/percussion).

A pioneer in contemporary taiko, Kenny Endo is celebrated worldwide for his innovative fusion of traditional Japanese drumming with global sounds. Based in Honolulu, Kenny's dynamic performances blend tradition with modern artistry, captivating audiences with powerful rhythms and cross-cultural collaborations.
