Join us for a day of creative fun and friendly competition - Saranac Lake's beloved annual Cardboard Boat Race is back!
Schedule:
10am-2pm: Boat building + Registration
2pm: Boat line-up + People’s Choice Award vote
3pm: Races
4pm: Award ceremony
Entry:
$25-$50 suggested donation per boat
All proceeds support Play ADK’s Clubhouse programming.

Boat Construction Rules:
- All boats must be built out of cardboard. Other acceptable materials include duct tape, glue, and latex paint.
- No treated cardboard, sona- tubes, cellular, fiberglass, plastic, wood or flotation materials allowed in hull construction
- No two part epoxies or adhesives.
Boat Building at Riverfront Park:
All supplies including cardboard, duct tape, sharpies, and paint will be available between 10am-2pm on August 30 for anyone that wants to build a boat on the day of the race.
Tips:
- Plan & build your boat ahead of time.
- Check your local furniture and appliance stores for cardboard.
- Use corrugated cardboard and/or multiple layers.
- Check YouTube and search online for boat building resources
