Detour Ahead follows twin sisters Gabby and Lucy as they spend their summer helping run their family’s lakeside cabin rentals in Tupper Lake. But things aren't as peaceful as the scenery suggests. Gabby is trying to find her purpose, Lucy is pushing herself as a competitive swimmer, and both girls are impacted by new friendships, old wounds, and the legacy of a mysterious civil rights activist.
When a swim meet goes wrong and social media turns cruel, Lucy spirals inward—until injury, empathy, and some unexpected connections force both sisters to rethink what strength really means. Meanwhile, Gabby is discovering the healing power of animals and kindness, bringing joy to nursing home residents alongside her dog.
