Acupuncture in a Yoga Style Setting
Step into a quiet room where the energy is intentional—like a yoga class, but for stillness.
Each person arrives with the unspoken desire to let go, to center, to return to the body as a place of strength and inner wisdom.
As the needles are placed, your nervous system begins to soften.
Theta brain waves naturally emerge—those deep, slow rhythms where the body repairs, the mind quiets, and insight arises.
There is a silent power in healing together. The collective energy of presence amplifies the treatment, reminding us that we don’t have to carry everything alone.
Come as you are. Leave with less of what weighs you down.
What to Expect: A Gentle Guide into Stillness
Step into a calm, yoga style setting designed for stillness, restoration, and deep nervous system reset.
Before You Arrive
• Eat a light meal
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing
• Bring warmth: socks, layers, or a cozy wrap
Upon Arrival
• Choose your spot and settle in lying on your back
• Relax into supportive props (blankets, bolsters, etc.)
• The room is quiet and peaceful—no need to talk or engage
During Treatment
• Gentle placement of ultra-fine needles (often painless)
• Common sensations: a tiny prick, warmth, heaviness, calm
• Soothing music plays while you rest for ~30 minutes
• Many people fall asleep or drift into a dreamlike state (theta brainwaves)
Afterwards
• Needles removed quietly and gently
• Most feel grounded, lighter, and more whole
• It’s like an extended shavasana—only deeper
This is your space to surrender, receive, and let the body remember how to heal.
Meet Your Acupuncturist Lisa van Tonder, LAc
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Master’s in Oriental Medicine. Licensed by the California Acupuncture Board as a primary care practitioner in 2008, I bring a unique blend of scientific understanding and holistic wisdom to every treatment. Since 2006, I’ve called the Santa Ynez Valley home—aside from four deeply formative years living in Europe with my husband, our son, and our daughter.
My clinical focus is women’s health and family care, with a deeper motive that extends beyond the treatment room: to restore calm, connection, and vitality within the home. I believe that stress relief isn’t just personal—it’s generational. When one person finds balance, it shifts the tone of an entire household. This is the heart of my practice: to offer care that brings peace where it matters most.
