Join our SciArt Field Trip to The Art Vault and Vladem Contemporary!

For this special Field Trip on Friday, August 8th, we will tour the newly opened Richard Mosse’s expansive solo exhibition at Art Vault, Santa Fe featuring a never-before-seen version of the Thoma Foundation’s newest acquisition from Mosse, Broken Spectre (2022) from 4-5PM and then at 5PM (please note these are the correct times, there was an error in the times listed in our recent newsletter) we will walk over to Vladem Contemporary to view the New Mexico Museum of Art's new acquisition of Shirley Crow's work.

Richard Mosse (b. 1980, Ireland; based in New York) is an artist documenting some of the most significant humanitarian and environmental crises of our time. He often employs special photographic technologies to encode invisible aspects of historically significant subjects within his imagery. His work has been the subject of recent exhibitions at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, the Barbican Art Gallery in London, and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. Recent survey exhibitions were held at Kunsthalle Bremen (2022) and MAST Foundation, Bologna (2021).

Shirley Crow moved to Santa Fe in 1999 and has been an active member of our community. She is very pleased to announce one of her paintings, New World, is now included in the permanent collection of the New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe. Crow had a solo exhibition at Gerald Peters Contemporary in 2022, and has exhibited her work at the University of New Mexico Medical Center, Albuquerque, and Zane Bennett Gallery in Santa Fe. Other venues include the Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock, Texas and Forsyth Center Galleries, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas.
