For Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service in 2023, Our City Forest with our community partners planted 20 trees at Watson Park. 18 months later, let’s go for a stroll and do a check-up on the young oaks and sycamores as they emerge and become integral to our city’s canopy.
Parking is in the lot on 22nd St. Meet us in front of the bathrooms. The walk is less than a half-mile. Wear walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen.
Tree species:
Bloodgood Sycamore (Platanus x acerifolia)
Forest Green Oak (Quercus frainetto ‘Schmidt)
Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia)
Cork Oak (Quercus suber)
