A gentle and kind, 90-minute community workshop to help you work with depression and rekindle hope in a supportive, real-world way.
Led by Jeffrey Mince — former Buddhist monk and seasoned mindfulness teacher — this session blends timeless Buddhist psychology with modern tools to navigate depression. In a warm, welcoming atmosphere, we’ll explore feelings of sadness, fatigue, or hopelessness with mindful awareness, open conversation, and proven strategies from positive psychology.
Saturday, August 9th, 6 - 7:30 pm @ Pilates Story
183 W Portal Ave, San Francisco, CA 94127
What to Expect:
We’ll begin with a calming guided meditation to center ourselves.
Together, we’ll talk about the emotional challenges of depression and why it can feel like a heavy, never-ending cycle.
You’ll learn how depression impacts the mind and body — affecting sleep, energy, and thoughts — and how to gently “interrupt” that cycle.
Practice simple, effective techniques you can use anywhere, like 7/11 breathing to ease anxiety and a body scan to ground and relax.
Reflect on core emotional needs — connection, meaning, self-compassion — and how meeting these needs can bring relief.
Enjoy at least two guided practices and supportive group interaction to remind you that you’re not alone.
Who is this for?
Whether you occasionally struggle with low mood or are supporting someone who does, this workshop offers a space to feel seen, understood, and empowered. You’ll leave with concrete tools and hope-building exercises you can use right away — and a renewed sense of connection and resilience.
No prior meditation or Pilates experience needed. Chairs are available if you prefer not to sit on the floor.
