Building the Block: House Party will offer valuable resources and community connections through Queer & Well programming, live entertainment, a clothing closet, an art exhibit, and more! Following last year’s victorious Purple Pride Party, where we welcomed 1500+ community members into our space and on Waller St, we’re excited to bring the event back with a House Party theme. Each floor of the SF LGBT Center will be activated to create an engaging space where the LGBTQIA+ community can connect with essential resources, deepen connections with one another, and celebrate pride!

On the 4th floor we welcome Queer & Well teachers offering well-being classes and practices to ground you OR get you sweating ready for Pride month. Our amazing teachers are:

Ki Charles is an African American, Mexican, Indigenous Yogi, who is expanding the inclusivity of yoga spaces for BIPOC, Queer people. They take inspiration from their ancestral roots to welcome all to practice with them through pairing culturally diverse musical flows with their own learnings. They facilitate connection and free expression with the hope that yoga can be for every body. The SF LGBT Center was the first space to welcome Ki into its community and through yoga they hope to continue to cultivate that vision of unyielding acceptance, faith, and love for one another.

James Jared began his dance journey in his childhood, taking classes at a local studio and discovering a love for performance and choreography. Since then, he has trained in modern, contemporary, hip hop, and ballet, earning a Certificate in Modern Dance from Princeton University where he performed works originally choreographed by Crystal Pite, Ohad Naharin, and John Jasperse, among others. James also danced and choreographed for diSiac Dance Company, where he served as the Technical Chair for 2 years. James’ current focus is now heels, through which he explores the intersection of masculinity and femininity by utilizing contemporary technique.

Abram Jackson has a dancing spirit and has been dancing since he was a toddler. He was introduced to Zumba in the mid-2000s, which was love at first step. Zumba is a dance-based fitness class created by choreographer Beto Perez that combines Latin American and world music, like salsa, merengue, reggaeton, cha-cha, and Hip Hop with cardio and dance moves. It is an accessible and fun way to exercise. During the pandemic, Abram decided to get certified and has enjoyed teaching ever since. Sometimes outdoors and currently at Soulflow Yoga Studio in Oakland every Saturday at noon. Abram’s class intensity is moderate to vigorous, and modifications are offered. Classes include a warm-up, dancing, and a cool-down.

Marc Morozumi is a Lead Yoga Teacher Trainer with Integral Yoga, began practicing Ashtanga yoga in 2001 while a full-time modern dancer with Joe Goode Performance Group in SF, CA. Due to injury, Marc retired from his 12 year dance career in 2004 and entered the events industry from 2004-2016. A 2-month personal trip to India in 2007 paved the way for landing in Yogaville in 2009 for his first teacher training with Swami Divyananda and staff.
Marc has co-led Integral Yoga retreats since 2011 and has staffed or co-led Basic Teacher Trainings since 2013 including IYI's first BIPOC Yoga Teacher Training in 2021. He has opened and managed small group yoga studios in SF since 2017 (M Spa Yoga and The Yoga Loft @ MX3 Fitness) and in early 2020, he opened and then reformed a studio post-COVID-19: Mukunda Studio in SOMA, SF, CA.
