“Multisensory Dialogue” is an ongoing collaborative inquiry between three artists deeply rooted in dramatically different forms of media - the auditory (Danny Clay, composer), olfactory (Yosh Han, perfumer), and tactile (Naomi Rosenberg, designer). Over the course of the residency, we will build a shared vocabulary between our combined disciplines, weaving them together into an intermedia exchange. Investigating ideas of labyrinth, navigation, play and exploration, we hope our audiences are surprised and delighted by the interplay of these novel sensory experiences. "Multisensory Dialogue."
Danny Clay is a composer and educator whose work is deeply rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and the sheer joy of making things with people of all ages and levels of artistic experience. He sees “composing” as the act of putting things together, and strives to find ways to utilize this act to foster creativity and connection – whether it be playing musical games with visitors to Chicago’s Millennium Park, or building experimental sound installations with classes of elementary schoolers. Working closely with artists, students, and community members alike, he builds worlds of inquiry, play, and perpetual discovery that often combine sound with other forms of media.
As a composer, recent collaborators include Kronos Quartet, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Eighth Blackbird, Third Coast Percussion, the San Francisco Girls Chorus, Wu Man, Volti, the People's Music School of Chicago, MyCincinnati Youth Orchestra, Sarah Cahill, and printmaker Jon Fischer.
