About the event

Expert Pannel - Bring your questions
Greetings SFAS Aquarists,
For the Month of July, i'm excited to announce that we have expert panel, where you can ask our local breeders any questions related to aquarium hobby.

About the Speaker:
Panel consists of:
Wilfred Fong, Dicklam Au, Leon Garden and Chuck Rambo.

Wilfred Fong:
Wilfred been in the tropical fish hobby for over 6 decades and a member with SFAS for over 4 decades. Most of Wilfred's knowledge is learned from other members of SFAS by sharing actual experience on what really works and avoiding failure. Wilfred have succeeded with breeding and selling discus, and now Rainbowfish, Pleco and Shrimp.
Wilfred said that he'll be remiss if I didn't mention my main passion in this hobby is keeping reef aquariums filled with the most difficult to keep colorful high end SPS (small polyp stoney corals).
Wilfred presently maintain three reef aquariums and 19 freshwater tanks in my home.

Leon Garden:
Leon has been a SFAS member since retiring from the NAVY in the 1980s.
Discovering the emerging scientific knowledge of how plants grow and
commercial availability of higher technology planted aquarium equipment for the
hobbyist rekindled Leon’s interest in growing aquatic plants and in aquascaped,
decorative tanks. He has traveled the world SCUBA diving to photograph marine
life and to explore freshwater habitats while collecting fish and aquatic plants.
Home in Monterey, Leon is known in the communities on the Monterey Peninsula
for his decades of volunteer activities with the City of Monterey, the Monterey
Bay Aquarium and as a local Tai Chi Instructor.

Dicklam Au:
Dick Au has been a member of the San Francisco Aquarium Society for several decades and served as officer, auctioneer and advisor for the Society. He has been in the aquarium hobby for over seventy years and is particularly interested in breeding aquarium fishes. His favorite is Discus, for which he has written a couple of books and numerous articles for aquarium magazines. Dick has lectured and judged fish shows in the United States as well as internationally.

Chuck Rambo:
Chuck has been a cichlid hobbyist for most of his life. At one point he had over 50 aquariums full of cichlids from all over the world. He has been a long time member and served many positions with the American Cichlid Association as well as his local club, the Pacific Coast Cichlid Association. He has collected cichlids in the great African rift lakes of Lake Malawi and Lake Tanganyika. He has also collected cichlids in southern Peru as well. Chuck has led many collecting trips with members of his local club collecting feral cichlids in the Everglades and southern Florida. Many years ago he developed an interest in the history of the aquarium hobby and began collecting old aquariums and fishbowls.
