As quoted from their website, they are a group of musicians that seeks to recreate, in their own unique way, the dance styles of the 1920s-50s. If you've ever been to any of their shows in Austin TX, they do exactly that. The Waller Creek Vipers are another former regular band of the old Monday Night Swing during the days at Sam's Burger Joint. The energy they bring to the dance floor truly resembles the energy from the 1930s which consisted of swing dancers doing what they love most; dancin' the night away! If you haven't had the chance to experience this band, this is the night to do so!

𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: This 6-count dance is where it all starts! This class is always available to you every Monday Night. East Coast 1 is perfect if you are new to swing dancing and want to begin your dance journey. This class will cover the main fundamentals to swing dancing such as basic posture, pulsing, weight transferring & core engagement.

𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫: Sheri
𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Build a strong foundation learning the building blocks of swing. Derived from a blending of tap and jazz moves, this class for all levels will build confidence in solo jazz moves that can performed independently, added to partner dance, and utilized in line dances like the Shim Sham and Tranky Doo! We said it time & time again that becoming a better individual dancer will make you a better partner dancer. This is your opportunity to push your limitations & expand your knowledge of what it means to be a dancer!

𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬: Gilbert Carrizales & Leslie Kortz
𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: After you have a decent understanding of the fundamentals taught in Eastcoast 1, continue on to level 2 and learn more advanced concepts of arm placements, body posture, weight transferring, step replacement, & turn variations.

How do I know I am ready for a more advanced lesson?

If you feel completely confident in the fundamentals of any beginner course whether it be Eastcoast 1, Charleston 1, Shag 1 or Lindy 1, then you are certainly ready for the next level.

Is there a way I can get a personal evaluation?

Yes. Our instructors are always available to provide a free evaluation during our Monday Night events. They can certainly help you figure our where your level is at & which lessons would benefit you the most.

How long does it take to get to get progress as a dancer?
A. 2:
Your level of progression is determined by the amount of time & effort you put in to individual practice, education & courses you take. Every one has a different learning curb, but the one thing that all of our advanced instructors have in common is that they never stopped dancing. Every instructor that teaches for Alamo City Swing Revival or San Antonio Swing Dance Society or at Swing Junction, have been through it all; private lessons, big swing dance events, personal evaluations, lessons taught by celebrity/professional swing dancers, traveling to dance, and educating themselves with videos & countless hours of feedback & practice.
FINAL NOTE: It takes a great deal of commitment & practice to learn the curriculum taught by our instructors. It takes an even bigger amount of commitment & practice to retain it, which is why our instructors are huge advocates of individual evaluations & private dance lessons. If you are struggling with progression in your dance, please reach out to any of our instructors and they will be more than happy to work with you one on one.

🧭 LOCATION:
The San Antonio Fire Fighter's Banquet Hall is located on the access road of West I-10 right next to the ramp that leads down from Medical Drive on the right side.
🚗 PARKING:
The SAFFBH parking can fit up to 100 vehicles. The parking lot is directly outside of the building on the left side. There is also additional parking on the right side.
🍺 𝐁.𝐘.𝐎.𝐁.
We have been given permission from the SA Firefighters Association to allow our guests to bring their own alcoholic beverages. Water bottles & sodas will remain for sale.
NOTE: We have the right to deny entry or to escort guests out of the premises if we feel they are above the legal intoxication limit, are disturbing the peace, or are attempting to serve alcohol to minors. Keep in mind that this is still an all-ages event and while we are allowing adults to bring their own beverages we must remind everyone to be responsible and follow the law.
