Confluence of Cultures: Artist Talk & Workshop

Exhibiting artist Michelle Hernandez from the “Confluence of Cultures: Nuestra Gente, Cultura y Comida exhibition” will speak about her work in the show and instruct attendees to produce their own shrine and/or food inspired sculpture using red clay.
This is a handbuilding class for ALL levels – no experience required.

This workshop is intended to create a space to explore your relationship with your hands and the wonderful material, clay, amongst a gallery of inspiring work from local artists.

To promote relationship-building with self and to minimize distractions while maximizing creative capacity, the only tools we will use in class are our hands (or basic tools when necessary).
This class will be instructed, but loosely, to allow individual creative expression; this space is where guidance and freedom meet.

Pieces made in the session will not be glazed (not food-safe), but they will be precious. Pieces made in the session will be fired and ready for pick-up within 4 weeks of the play date.

Please plan to arrive by 5:30pm to sign in and enjoy refreshments before the program begins. This event will start promptly at 6:00pm
