Come join us for an afternoon of laughter and entertainment at our Comedy Show + Film Pre-screening event. This is also a fundraiser event for the film Comedy Family Style.

Comedians Performing:

Richard Yan - Richard Yan tells jokes in English and Mandarin (but in the same set). His goal is to host the first roast battle of leaders from China and the US. Richard frequently performs at 硅谷脱口秀 (Silicomedy) in San Jose.

Angel Jin - Angel Jin is a bilingual Chinese American actor and stand-up comedian who discovered her knack for telling funny stories at her weekly church small group. She got her start in New York performing at the Comic Strip, Broadway, and Greenwich Village Comedy Clubs, has performed at SF Sketchfest for the last 2 years, and can be found at Cobbs, Punchline, and other stages across the Bay. Angel was raised in Nanjing, Shanghai and Boston.

Albert Lin - Albert Lin is a comedian from the Bay Area. Albert is a silly guy who loves joking about everyday absurdities. Outside of comedy, Albert spends most of his day talking to his pet bird, communicating through a mixture of chirps, hoots, and when necessary, squawks.

About the film: Comedy Family Style

The traditional nuclear family dynamic is evolving today, and so is the role a woman plays in a child’s upbringing. The documentary tells the story of a mother(46) and a child comedian(11) who return to China together to uncover their roots and strengthen their bond. This film explores the complexities and changing norms around parenthood as well as the importance of connection and growth in understanding ourselves. The traditional nuclear family dynamic is evolving today, and so is the role a woman plays in a child’s upbringing. Besides connection between family members, the film also showcases the differences in upbringing between a Chinese born mom and US born son, and the dialogues around how they see US and China through their lenses.

• Helen Chu, Producer and Director - Former product management techie, influencer agency founder, standup comedian. Featured in SF Sketchfest, opened for Donnell Rawlings. Bio
• Evan Ho, Comedian - Featured in SF Sketchfest as the youngest comedian to perform, Evan has amassed over 40k social followers on social media who can appreciate his dry humor. The only child of a comedian mom and game designer dad. Evan likes Pokemon, piano, and jokes that make people laugh out loud.
• Naum Milyavskiy, Director - A Ukrainian-born filmmaker with award-winning short films and documentaries about communities in the margins of society.

Located at 1054 S De Anza Blvd, get ready for a lively comedy show followed by an exclusive pre-screening of a new film. Followed by a Q&A with the film's director and stars.
